In bending processes, the bending radius (R) is directly related to sheet thickness. Thicker and harder materials require a larger minimum radius to prevent cracking or deformation. There are two types of bending radii: inner radius and outer radius. In cold roll forming processes, it is typically achievable to have an inner radius equal to the material thickness and an outer radius equal to twice the material thickness.
However, for certain profiles requiring aesthetically refined appearances—such as steel curtain wall studs—our customers demand external R-radii smaller than the plate thickness. Through continuous validation and technical adjustments by our technical engineering team, we have successfully met these high-standard requirements. Currently, our equipment can achieve an external R-radius of 2mm and an internal R-radius approaching zero for 3mm-thick low-carbon steel (DC01) curtain wall profiles, with stable production quality.

This reduces visual bulk and eliminates the need for external decorative cladding, resulting in lower overall costs.
